user administration

Reported by Alberto Greco | September 23rd, 2011 @ 02:31 AM

I would like to have users that are able to view all public content but editing (writing) only some specific pages. This only works if "is admin" is set to yes for the role assigned to a specific user. If it is set to no, even if all chechboxes in the role tabs are put to read and write, it does not work. At the user login, it appears the "member profile page" (instead of the home page), and if I click on Home, then "Not found" page appears, with a site tree that does not work.

Can you please explain how a role should be set in order to make possible that the corresponding users view the home page and other public pages, are not admin (the should not see the controlpanel) but can edit some specific pages?

Thank you

If the user is not an admin, then they can't edit pages without custom coding. Basically, "is admin?" is an either-or type of switch. To enable a member to edit certain pages, you would have to build a custom edit form for the content they're allowed to edit, with the appropriate permission checks in place.
