News: Break story up by hr using javascript instead

Reported by lux | August 17th, 2008 @ 12:52 PM | in 5.0.3 (closed)

And add a 'Full story' link too. If the tertiary pages were loaded with JS instead, then a File > Print would print the full story automatically, which is nicer.

    • Title changed from “Break story up by hr using javascript instead” to “News: Break story up by hr using javascript instead”

    If you add

tags to a new story, Sitellite treats those tags as break breaks and automatically paginates the story (nice). The problem is that there seems to be no way to view the entire story on one page, whether for reading or printing. I'd like to see a way for news stories that are automatically paginated to also have a link or button that said something like 'full story', 'single page view' or 'print view' so that visitors could easily change from the paginated view to the single page view.

Looking at the original description for this ticket, I'm not sure how JavaScript would accomplish this, but if it can then great. I would think that a special news page, or modified version of the news app, that was passed the story id and a parameter could load the story from the database and skip the code that performs the pagination.

I did the css part. Now, it displays the split story, but print the entire story. See http://github.com/lux/sitellite/commit/5707356869d515772fdd27cd153d...

Added an 'All' link for now. Since it will print the whole story from any page now, this seemed easier and also doesn't require Javascript for story paging. Marking resolved.
