"updatelinks" does not update all "parallel" pages
Reported by Jamieson Christian | May 3rd, 2011 @ 03:20 PM
This bug applies to pages that have multiple versions set up as status "Parallel" for multivariate testing (the "multivariate page"). When a page that the multivariate page links to changes in a way that requires cms/services/updatelinks to run, updatelinks creates a new revision of only the last version of the multivariate page. The new revision, also being of type "Parallel", gets added to the set of possible versions to select from. Over time, the last version the user set up will end up dominating the selection pool and skewing the results.
So where the beginning pool of variations might be...
A / B / C
...each time "updatelinks" runs on the page it will create a new version of "C" that becomes part of the "Parallel" pool. The outcome looks like...
A / B / C / C / C / C / C / C / C / C...
